Flower Power Shaker Card

"Flower Power" is the optional theme for our sketch at the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #358. Using sketches is one of the best ways to find inspiration for a card. In this case I tilted the sketch. As a new DT member, I was eager to get started although the time frame was short.

I used the colors that are for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #283. I thought this was an appealing color combination.

Here is the original sketch:

Here is the orientation I used:

Here is the information for the color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare:

The sketch seemed ideal for a shaker card and I wanted to make a card for a friend who needed a little cheering up, so this is the result. Instructions for making shaker cards are all over the Internet so I am not leaving specific instructions. I finished the inside with a panel of white cardstock and a punched flower.

The lighting, along with the reflection from the acetate, has distorted the sequin colors. I only used two colors - yellow and gray - to match the cardstock and patterned paper.

Put your imagination to work and join in our challenges at TSOT every Tuesday. All materials and products are welcome. Please visit our color challenge as well at Color My Heart Color Dare every Friday. You may substitute any brand of ink for the required colors as long as they produce colors that are close in tone and hue. Participants may be eligible for a monthly prize. Both of these blogs offer new challenges weekly and each challenge provides about a two-week timeline to enter your project.

If you have any questions, just ask, and thank you for looking!

For You - Fancy Fold

This is a DT card for the Color My Heart Color Dare Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #281. The challenge runs for two weeks. I used the colors from the middle horizontal row - Willow, Sorbet and Canary. My neutral is white. Fancy fold or fun fold cards are among my favorite to make. The fold adds variety and uniqueness to the card. I found the tutorial HERE. I changed a few items from the original but the instructions to make the basic card are the same.
The flowers and butterfly were punched from cardstock. Candy dots were added to the flower centers. The yellow panel was adhered using foam tape for dimension. The inside was lined with white cardstock and decorated with more punched flowers.

Lesson learned: The inside decoration should be placed so as not to be visible when the card is closed.

Visit our Challenge Blog for additional information on playing along. With tic-tac-toe you have eight color combinations from which to choose. If you don't have the exact colors but have some that are close, you may substitute those colors. You could be eligible for a prize by sharing your project!

Marvella Mermaid

Today's card is being made for the 3-2-1 Challenge #190 at The Crafter's Café, scheduled to begin on February 15, 2018. The challenge ends Tuesday, February 27 at 7 pm US Mountain Time. The items assigned to the DT are 3 papers, 2 butterflies and 1 flower, which seems odd for an undersea image but I made it work. After all, in "Card-land" we use imagination and artistic license all the time!
The three decorative papers are the background, which is a recycled Kleenex box, the gold foil and the green embossed foil. The image, Marvella Mermaid, was downloaded from Rick St. Dennis, resized, colored with Copics and fussy cut. It was adhered to gold foil and fussy cut again, then adhered to the background paper with foam tape, along with the green foil die cut seaweed and the punch cut butterflies. A white flower was heat embossed using a Versamark pen and gold glitter embossing powder and a few dots with a Copic marker. The glass droplets were also adhered onto the drawn bubbles. The elements were adhered to a card base of Pool Party on white with a strip of gold foil. Two butterflies were cut from the background paper and adhered to the inside. I chose not to use a sentiment - I will wait until the right occasion comes along.

Check out The Crafter's Café Challenge Blog. We'd love to have you submit a project to the 3-2-1 Challenge #190. We also urge you to visit our sponsor's website, Rick St. Dennis, for some unique digital images.

Valentine - Love You

This DT card will finish my Valentine cards for 2018. I really liked the color scheme for the challenge because there were all kinds of possibilities with it but in the end I went with just one more Valentine.
Please join in at Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #279. The required colors are Canary, Cranberry and Pacifica with Gold as an option. Black and white are permitted as neutrals. Check your inks, papers and accessories and if you have something close in color you are welcome to submit a card, scrapbook page or other paper project.

Find our blog HERE and have some fun!

The black panel was dry embossed with a diagonal stripe. A Versamark pen was used on the embossed stripes and then heat embossed with clear powder to give some shine and texture to the black background. The black panel was adhered to a white card base and the die cut elements were adhered. A second cranberry heart was adhered over the other using foam tape for dimension along with the tiny sentiment. Gold was an option for this challenge so gold sequins were added. The inside of the card was decorated with a small die cut heart.

It annoys me when my camera does not photograph the true colors but it's probably incorrect lighting coupled with my lack of knowledge.
We look forward to seeing your cards in our challenges at Color Dare! Please give it a try and you may be eligible to win our monthly prize!
