My name is Melanie Richards and I live in Arizona with my husband, Bob. As the daughter and the wife of military men, I don't claim a place to call my hometown. I was born in Auburn, NY, in the Finger Lakes region, which is a far distance from New York City.
My hobbies include sewing, quilting, reading mysteries and historical fiction and now paper-crafting. I am a Christian and we are active in our church. While a young woman, I earned my SEL Private Pilot's License and also enjoy soaring. Now we are retired, living in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. After living in Florida for a long time, I admit I miss the beaches.
I enjoy bird watching, especially hummingbirds, and keep feeders for them. I also love dogs and cats. I now have an elderly Birman cat named Samantha. She is quite the pretty girl with a playful spirit and huge blue eyes. Recently, we took in a young adult male with blue tuxedo markings. We named him Sluggo. He is very energetic and tries to "terrorize" Samantha, who knows how to put him in his place.
Unless you have plenty of time, don't get me started on my family history. In 1620, my 9th great-grandfather, Christopher Jones, Jr., was the captain of a tiny ship called the Mayflower, landing on the shores at Plymouth Rock.
